Collaborative action
We enable companies to find collective solutions to challenges they cannot solve on their own, such as mobilising community leaders to help economic regeneration in New Orleans or engaging unions and civil society groups in upholding human rights in Colombia.
Influencing individual companies
We work with companies to enable them to manage the specific social risks and opportunities they face. For example, we helped a major food and drinks company develop a Fairtrade coffee brand, an extractive company audit its human rights practice, and a professional services company embed their values among their management.
Institution building
We strengthen national and international organizations that engage business in development issues, for example by providing leadership and administrative support for new organizations in Eastern Europe, sharing good practice with well-established institutions in Asia, or building the partnership skills and capacity of major UN and aid agencies.
IBLF supports corporate partners by identifying and addressing critical challenges and issues 'ahead of the evidence'.

This forward thinking approach results in fewer associated risks, and explores the opportunities of these challenges by creating innovative solutions through collaborative partnerships. Working with IBLF also allows companies a global perspective on best practices in Corporate Responsibility and creates opportunities for them to interface with corporate peers dealing with similar issues.

IBLF works with Corporate Partners through 3 main tracks:

  • Senior Executive engagement in high-level leadership events and dialogues.

  • Opportunity to impact development issues through program engagement to advance Human Security, stimulate Economic Prosperity and promote Environmental Stability.

  • Access to strategic services to support the company's own leadership development and positioning of sustainability issues, to support the company's own program activity, to embed responsible business practices and to manage cross-sector partnerships.
